We create, only to destroy. We engage, only to disengage. We can only understand ourselves if we are open to understanding others. Boats brought us settlers, for better or worse, and boats also brought slaves to this country. Boats bring us necessary imports and boats bring us dangerous drugs and weapons. We pick and choose who to murder based on simply being afraid and unwilling to invite people we do not understand to the table. And I truly believe that this is a choice. No one is capable of being native to every place or being an expert in every scenario. Being uncomfortable is necessary for growth. But the ones with power, the ones with the money, buy that comfort to avoid being in a situation where they are uncomfortable. So instead, they sit back in that expensive chair, and choose deceit to avoid answering the tough questions.
